Waco! Comics! El Paso! Gig Harbor!

So many festival news! I swear I just finished updating laurels on our poster two days ago and then I had to do it again yesterday. Full disclosure – I don’t know how to use Photoshop.

I’ll take these good troubles any day of the week! With that in mind, here’s the most up-to-date poster!

Poster for Chen Drachman's But I'm a shoe starring Janet Varney, with laurels for the St. Louis International Film Festival, The Phoenix Film Festival, the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival, Golden Door International Film Festival, McMinnville Short Film Festival, Gig Harbor Film Festival, CineLebu, Inwood Film Festival, the Waco Independent Film Festival, and the El Paso Film Festival.

So next up is Waco, which I wrote at length about in my previous post, since it’s basically taking Shoe home to where we filmed. Shoe will screen, yes, but in addition, the script for Blood and Sex Over Ambition will have a live-reading and compete for Best Screenplay.

What’s even more exciting is that we’re collaborating with the much-loved local bookstore – Bankston’s!

The team at Bankston's Comics at Waco, TX with merchandise of Chen Drachman's But I'm a Shoe, signed by Janet Varney.

Get yourself a festival ticket, anytime between right now and 7/20, stop by the store, and present it to get A. *free* But I’m a Shoe merch, and B. 25% off any store item. How cool is that?

But don’t wait too long. Our very last enamel pin is currently at the store waiting for you, as well as the last 2 scripts signed by Janet.

The early bird gets one of our last 13 stickers or a Janet-signed postcard!

Go visit Bankston’s, what are you waiting for? This is likely our last collaboration of the sort!

Then Shoe is off to El Paso Film Festival, a MovieMaker Magazine top 50 festival that I heard incredible things about!

We love Texas and Texas seems to love us right back, which we appreciate!

The Festival will take place 9/25 – 9/25/2025.

Screening times and ticket information will be posted on the screening page as soon as they become available.

Last (for now!) but not least is the Gig Harbor Film Festival, which so many friends recommended.

I’ve never been to Washington before, and I’m looking forward to screening the film twice there, and meeting a completely new community.

The festival will take place 9/25 – 9/28/2025 (Shoe will be in two places at once!) with screenings taking place on 9/26 and 9/27.

Additional ticket information will be posted on the screening page as it becomes available.

And that, folks, marks our 10 festivals milestone, and we’re far from done.

Thank you to anyone who has already attended a screening or plan to.

See you out there!
