Had a great time (for the second time!) at the Phoenix Film Festival last week. These guys always have an amazing program, the merch is top shelf, and if you’re gonna lose in your category, it better be for a film voiced by Ian McKellen. Am I right?

Love taking Shoe, both the film and my own, to Arizona, and coming up is Dubuque at the end of the month. The date and time for my one-on-one Coffee Talk with community fave, John B. Donovan has now been confirmed, and all the details are on the screening page.
As a reminder, we have a special collaboration with the local River Lights Bookstore. Show up with a proof of purchase for either of our screenings to receive free movie merch. Some items are signed by Janet Varney.
Bring ANY Julien Dubuque Film Festival pass to the store and receive a one-time, 15% off for a store purchase. Independent Book Store Day is coming up. Perfect timing to check this very cute store!

I’m also excited to share that we’ve teamed up with Blick Art Materials, who gave us a card to use for in-kind donations ahead of the filming of Blood and Sex Over Ambition.
This is a film about artists, so we need… you guessed it! Art supplies! These in-kind donations help us lower our budget.

Thank you to everyone at Blick! You can support the project, too. All details are here.

Last night’s Yom Hashoah event was very moving for me. It’s always special to share The Book of Ruth with new audiences. When I have a chance to truly connect and talk about the work, the experience is even better.
Thank you to over a 100 people who attended in-person and on Zoom, thank you Michael Mantell for hosting. The RDP, 3GNY, CAFI at the City University of New York and B’nai Brith – thanks for sponsoring this event in such close proximity to Passover and Yom HaShoah.
You can watch the entire talk here (the link below skips the blurry intro):

Last, but very much not least, it’s my absolute pleasure to announce the NYC premiere of But I’m a Shoe, next month, 5/31, at the Inwood Film Festival.
Tickets are now on sale. All details are on the screening page.
This festival is the definition of home for me. Not only did The Book of Ruth screen there, and now Shoe, but they also gave us one of this year’s grants, which is a major reason why we’re heading into production for Blood and Sex Over Ambition later this year to tell a story of queer painters.
They’re doing so many great things for the Upper Manhattan and Lower Bronx communities, and I’m looking forward to get even more involved with the organization.

That’s it for now! Stay tuned for international premiere news coming oh-so-soon.
A lot is going on but I’m also hoping to give this space a face-lift soon-ish.
Happy Easter/Passover and spring.
