Just a quick update. Between post-production for Blood and Sex Over Ambition, a new exciting project being filmed in Ukraine (more on that soon), and some other exciting developments, a solid update here has been a bit hard as it require sorting some thoughts and who has the time for that!
So in the mean time, I’ll just let you know that The Julien Dubuque Intl Film Festival is celebrating 15 years this year with an extended, week-long festival, and I’m thrilled to head back to and moderate two very exciting panels:
4/24, 2:30 PM, at the beautiful River Lights Bookstore:
“From the Written Word to the Screen” – where we’ll discuss screen adaptations from a variety of source material, including novels, letters (maybe, say, from Van Gogh to his brother), plays, and comic books.
Looking forward to talk to my buddy, Gregory J. M. Kasunich, director of Blood and Sex Over Ambition about the Mean Girls Club!
I love this bookstore, who also supported But I’m a Shoe last year, and I’m thrilled to host the first ever JDIFF bookstore session. This event is free.
4/25, 11:30, at the Holiday Inn Clarion Room –
Festival Executive Directors panel – Some of the absolute best will be there to discuss what it takes to run a fan-favorite festival, how to engage and mobilize the local community, and what goes into programming.
Looking forward to chat with friends such as Susan Gorrell of Julien, Waco Independent Film Festival, Omaha Film Festival, and Red Rose Film Festival. This event is free.
And if that’s not enough, I’ll be moderating the post-screening Q&A for The Floaters, talking to producer and mensch Shai Korman.
If you’re ready for summer camp early this year, come see one of the screenings:
April 22, 2026 at 4:30 PM – FIVE FLAGS THEATER
April 24, 2026 at 4:00 PM – NMRMA JOURNEY THEATER

Hope to see you all in Iowa!
